Apple Maps has decided to mark Kosovo’s name on the map and recognise its international border with Serbia after an online petition in change.org.
197,175 people have signed the petition “Put Kosovo on Apple Maps” launched last month calling the Apple to establish the international border of Kosovo with Serbia. The border line that separates the two countries in Apple Maps was visually different from those used to divide the borders of other countries, thus making Kosovo appear as part of Serbia and not marking its name on the map, but only that of capital Pristina. Kosovo has declared its Independence in February 2008 and has been recognised by 115 countries ever since.
The campaign was supported by world-known pop stars who are from Kosovo, including Rita Ora, Dua Lipa Bebe Rexha, Ava Max and others. Rita Ora spoke out on July 20 in support of the country appearing on Apple Maps. She also tagged Dua Lipa, Bebe Rexha, and Ava Max in the post. She captioned the post: “Would love to see Apple spreading awareness by putting Kosovo on the map! “Albania and Kosovo are full of so much beautiful and great talent. Spreading Love, Peace and Unity today […]”. /GazetaExpress/
