France, Germany expect Kosovo-Serbia dialogue to resume soon

Embassies of France and Germany in Pristina has reacted on Thursday saying that French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel, stand ready to organise a Summit in Paris on the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia.

The Embassies of France and Germany expect the Dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia to resume soon. “Together with Chancellor Merkel, President Macron remains ready to host a Summit in Paris,” according to a statement posted by the French Embassy in Pristina.

German Ambassador Christian Heldt has reacted to the statement posted on Twitter saying that their governments stand ready to organise the Paris Summit. “Important commitment to dialogue, Germany and France encourage keeping momentum. We fully support EU efforts with Miroslav Lajcak to achieve substantial progress in tangible time frame for comprehensive settlement. Our governments stand ready to be helpful with proposed meeting in July,” Heldt said.

The reaction of the Embassies comes after the 27 June meeting between Kosovo and Serbia in Washington was cancelled, after the Specialist Prosecutor’s Office pressed charges against Kosovo president Hashim Thaci who  was expected to lead the Kosovo delegation in dialogue with Serbia. Following the news of the Hague Based Prosecutor’s Office Kosovo president Thaci cancelled his visit to Washington. Also, on Thursday prime minister Avdullah Hoti decided to cancel his visit. The US special envoy on Dialogue, Richard Grenell, in a brief statement on Twitter said that he understands Kosovo PM Hoti’s decision to cancel the visit and said that he is looking forward to re-scheduling the meeting soon. /GazetaExpress/
