LDK sacks Vjosa Osmani from all positions

The Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) has decided to dismiss Vjosa Osmani from all the positions in the party. Osmani was part of the LDK’s chairmanship and deputy chair of party but the General Council of the LDK decided on Saturday to dismiss her from these positions. The news was confirmed by member of the LDK, Haxhi Avdyli.  

Avdyli in a Facebook post called the LDK’s decision scandalous and the voting on dismissing Osmani as manipulated. The proposal to dismiss Osmani came from the leader of party Isa Mustafa, with the justification that she went against party’s decision, and has not voted current government led by Avdullah Hoti of the LDK. Reportedly Hoti will take Osmani’s position in this ruling party.  

Osmani who is Speaker of the Parliament, was the candidate for prime minister in LDK’s relection list last year and the most voted member of the LDK, has openly opposed the LDK’s plan to end a coalition with the Vetevendosje of Albin Kurti after only 50 days in power. She has also voted against the new LDK-led government established after no-confidence vote in Kurti’s Cabinet on 25 March 2020.

Osmani was in open collision with the party’s leader, Isa Mustafa, also in 2014 when voted against him as a leader. But later she reached a peace with Mustafa and supported Hoti for prime minister in 2017 elections, but the LDK failed to win the elections. Osmani again reached a provision peace with the LDK in 2019 elections after Mustafa decided to appoint her as deputy head of party and propose for prime minister. In October 2019 elections the LDK was ranked as second with the Vetevendosje winning in a narrow margin of one percent of votes. The Vetevendosje and LDK reached a coalition and agreed to elect Osmani as Speaker of Parliament. But after 50 days of coalition the LDK initiated a no-confidence vote in the government they were part of, and dismissed Kurti as prime minister. Osmani was a voiced critic of the LDK’s initiative and was voted against all its initiatives to topple the Government. /GazetaExpress/
